Ben Sherman graduated with a B.S. degree from the University of Michigan in 2008 majoring in Biochemistry and Spanish. Ben completed his PhD at Arizona State University under the direction of Tom Moore in 2013. His PhD work focused on the development of tandem dye-sensitized photoelectrochemical cells (DSPECs) for the production of solar fuels. Following completion of his graduate work, Ben began a postdoctoral appointment at the University of North Carolina working in the lab of Tom Meyer. While at UNC, he continued work on DSPECs with an emphasis on ruthenium-based complexes as chromophores and catalysts as well as the development of novel electrochemical methods for preparing and analyzing the photochemical performance of dye-sensitized photoanodes. He joined the faculty at TCU in the Fall of 2017 with the current rank of assistant professor and plans to continue his research efforts in photoelectrochemical systems for artificial photosynthesis.
